Essential steps before installing a custom ROM
Backup Your Data
Before proceeding, make sure to backup all your important data. Installing a custom ROM will erase all data on your device.
- Backup photos and videos to Google Photos or your computer
- Backup contacts to Google Contacts
- Backup important files to Google Drive or your computer
- Backup WhatsApp chats
- Note down all important apps you have installed
Tip: You can use Samsung Smart Switch to create a complete backup of your device.
Install Required Software
You'll need to install the following software on your computer:
- Samsung USB Drivers - Required for your computer to recognize your device
- Odin - Tool to flash firmware files on Samsung devices
- Platform Tools - Contains ADB and Fastboot tools
Enable Developer Options
You need to enable Developer Options and USB Debugging on your device:
- Go to Settings → About tablet
- Tap on Software information
- Tap on Build number 7 times until you see "You are now a developer"
- Go back to Settings → Developer options
- Enable USB debugging
- Enable OEM unlocking (if available)
